In 2007, Warm Springs Baptist Church presented four performances of the musical I'll be Home for Christmas. It told the story of a family seeking hope in the midst of hardship. Set in the World War II era, the play featured “big band” style music performed by a 50 voice choir, an orchestra and a cast of actors.
“This musical shared the hope of Christmas in a way that is unique,” said Jackie Garis, Pastor of Worship Arts at Warm Springs Baptist Church.“The audience followed the lives of the characters as they sought hope while facing the attack on Pearl Harbor.”
“The swing music feel of this show added so much depth and energy,” said Christy Watson, the musical’s director. “Even though the show had a poignant ending, it’s really a musical comedy.”
